James L Reid (Co-Director / Producer)

James L Reid is a Los Angeles-based director/producer/creative director. A graduate of Loyola Marymount’s screenwriting program, his films often address themes of human achievement, American subcultures, social justice, and characters of contradiction.

He has directed and produced numerous short-form documentaries, most notably “Soldiers Under Command” (2004), an official selection of AFI, Newport, Noisepop, and NY Underground film festivals.

Most recently, Reid produced feature-length documentary Let Fury Have the Hour, an official selection of the 2012 Tribeca, Rotterdam, Paly Doc Fest, Belfast, Noise Pop, and CBGB film festivals.

In late 2012, Reid pioneered a “reverse Kickstarter campaign” by taking his documentary Born Again: The Power Team Story‘s rough edit on a grassroots tour of over 20 churches and Christian universities across the U.S., selling advance tickets of the final cut to raise funds and awareness for the completion of the project.

Reid is also the owner of multimedia production company nothingtosomething and Intertainment Group. Both companies develop innovative strategies to produce commercial and artistic storytelling in today’s challenging media marketplace. Clients include Sony, Chevy, MTV, Tempur-Pedic, and Universal Studios.

Reid is an active participant of the nonprofit Jail Guitar Doors, founded by rock pioneers Wayne Kramer and Billy Bragg, which provides musical instruments and opportunities to help rehabilitate prisoners.
